Getting Closer To The 3rd Trimester!!
Mommy went for her second ultrasound on Thursday, October 11th. We decided that Daddy should not go because we were afraid that he maybe too tempted to find out the sex. The doctor was amazed at how laid back I was about not wanting to find out the sex. I just love surprises, so I had no desire to try to look for the sex organ. Baby is doing great. The doctor said our baby has the most beautiful head she has ever seen. She also told us that the baby's spine looks fantastic too. The heartrate registered at 143 beats/minute. You will notice pictures below of the baby's hand, foot, spine, and profile. The baby has measured so far from a raspberry to a kidney bean, jumbo shrimp, lime, lemon, avocado, large onion, sweet potato, zucchini, mango, and now a head of califlower. I wonder what is next?! Stay tuned.
Chili Cookoff Weekend!
My brother Stuart and his wife Jennifer held their second annual chili cookoff in Nashville. They host this event every other year when the University of Kentucky Wildcats head down to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Comodors. There were several people that went to the football game, and luckily UK won!! Around 50 people attended the after party at Stuart and Jennifer's fighting for the chili title! There were a total of 10 entries, and my husband BIG DADDY Brock took home the 1st place victory! CONGRATULATIONS HONEY!!!! My sweet sister, Ashley, took home the second place trophy. Good job siddy! Her husband, Art, made some mean chili too. John and I had a lovely time visiting with family and friends, and are already looking forward to the next cookoff party!! Thanks Stuart and Jen for all your hard work!
The Love of Camping - October 13, 2007
Our camping trip was so much fun. John and I are big campers, and it has been a while since we have been able to go. John's brother Ronnie, sister Angie, and nephew Dylan also went with us. We stayed at our favorite campground on Kentucky Lake, Hilman Ferry. The weather was just perfect, and we were able to do a lot on our trip. We visited the Elk and Bison Prarie, Nature Station, carved pumpkins, and sat around the camp fire at night. This was Dylan's first camping trip, and is already asking when can we come back here Uncle Johnny and Uncle Katie?

Visiting La La - August 18, 2007
Baby Broeckling had its first experience flying the last week of August. John and I went to Colorado to visit my Mom (who has decided to be called La La once the baby arrives). Even with the horrible turbulance and long layovers, Baby Broeckling handled traveling very well. We had a great time visiting with Mom and Walter, and were able to visit the Pueblo Indian cliff dwellings at Mesa Verdi. We also spotted some black bear! John and I took some alone time, and headed 30 miles North to an old silver mining town called Silverton. We are already looking forward to going back, and can't wait to take Baby with us! Enjoy our pictures of Colorado!

Vegas Winners - August 22, 2007
John and I also traveled to Las Vegas after visiting with Mom. A couple that we met in Paducah asked us to come out for their wedding, so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity for us to have one last trip as husband and wife before Baby Broeckling comes into our world. We had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool, playing a little texas holdem', and looking at all the sights on the Strip. It was our lucky week in Vegas. The very first night we both won! I racked in $550 dollars with a straight flush playing limit holdem', and John won $200 dollars playing no limit. That helped pay for the rest of our vacation!
